Bayern finish US tour with defeat to Real

East Rutherford - Bayern Munich finished their tour of the USA with a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid after a stunning Danilo strike sealed the European champions' friendly victory in New Jersey.

In front of 82,012 fans at the MetLife-Stadium, the home of NFL sides the New York Jets and New York Giants, full-back Danilo hit the winning goal from 20 yards out on Wednesday, which beat Bayern's second string goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

The German champions were missing France winger Franck Ribery with a minor knock, but held Zinedine Zidane's Real for long periods before Danilo's winner 11 minutes from time.

Bayern had come close to opining the scores when David Alaba hit the post with an early free-kick.

Despite the loss, Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti was happy with the performance as the Bundesliga champions fine tune their team ahead of their match with Borussia Dortmund away in the German Super Cup on August 14.

"I have a lot of trust in my players and I am certain we're going to have a good season," said Ancelotti, who has replaced Pep Guardiola, with Munich chasing a fifth straight Bundesliga title when the league season starts on August 26.

This was Bayern's second defeat on their tour of the US having lost 5-3 to AC Milan on penalties, then recorded a thumping 4-1 win over Inter Milan.

Real have won both of their last two games in the US, having also beaten Chelsea 3-2, since losing their opening game 3-1 to Paris Saint-Germain in Ohia.
