R8.8m for May Mahlangu?

Johannesburg - IFK Gothenburg could be tempted to sell South African midfielder, May Mahlangu, if an offer of around  R8.8m is submitted, according to Swedish reports.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, It was reported by British paper, the Daily Mail, yesterday that the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Brighton & Hove Albion and Glasgow Celtic were all interested in landing the dynamic midfielder, though Gothenburg’s sporting director has insisted that it’s just rumours for now.

Mats Gren also explained that, as the 25-year-old only signed a one-year deal at the start of the season, the club are already prepared for his possible exit when his contract expires in December.

Speaking to Swedish publication, Göteborgs-Tidningen, Gren said, “I have heard the rumours and read the rumours but anything more than that I do not know at all.

“It’s hard to say how long he will stay with us. This fall, we expect that he will leave, but what his plans are for then I do not know until we have sat down and discussed them.

“Of course, we would love to keep May, but I have not received any indications either way so far.”
