Platini takes swipe at FIFA

Paris - UEFA president Michel Platini said Wednesday that the resignation of FIFA's top corruption investigator Michael Garcia was a "new failure" by football's governing body.

"FIFA's ethics committee was created to increase transparency at the organisation, that's what we wanted, but in the end it has just caused more confusion. Mr. Garcia's resignation is a new failure for FIFA," Platini said.

Garcia resigned on Wednesday as head of FIFA's ethics committee investigatory chamber in protest at the governing body's handling of his report into the bids by Russia and Qatar for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
