Grant guns for Ghana job

Cape Town - Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant could take over the reins of the Ghana national team, with his agent revealing he has applied for the position.

The Black Stars are on the lookout for a new head coach after Kwesi Appiah's contract was not renewed by the Ghana Football Association.

It has been reported that there are 32 applicants for the role, with Grant, who is currently director of football at Thai club BEC Tero Sasana, one of them.

"Yes, Grant has applied for the job and we are hoping the Ghana Football Association will take it in their stride to name him as the next coach of the Black Stars," Grant's agent, Tony Appiah, told Football411's Ghana correspondent Russel Wiafe.

"His work with top clubs tells it all, he has seen it all in football, in England, Turkey and even the Israeli National team. His track record is clear for everybody to see and we think that he is more capable of doing this job than any other candidate who has applied.

"We have made it clear to them that Grant is working now in Bangkok but will not hesitate to leave his post and join the Ghana FA to work," he added.

"We think that the Ghana team has the pedigree to challenge for honors, both on the African Continent and the world at large, and that is the reason we want to be part and build this successful story."
