Without a goal in open play, it took a penalty from Kwabena Adusei for Ghana in the 67th minute to send the Black Stars through to the last four of the competition. At the start of the clash, Congo had the first opportunity of the game the 12th minute.

Mubele Ndombe raced into the box, pulled the ball back onto his left foot, but with only keeper Stephen Adams to beat, he sent a rising effort over the bar.

Ghana's Theophilus Anobaah was a constant threat with his tricky runs, one such effort struck the post after the player surged his way past three defenders.

The best opportunity of the half came a minute before the break, but Adusei lost his cool as he smashed a shot over the bar from 14-yards out after Congo had failed to clear their box.

Ghana were awarded a 67th minute second half penalty after Jordan Opoku's cross struck Kasusula Klitsho's arm.

Adusei stepped up to slot home the spot kick in clinical fashion.

As the match moved into the final 15 minutes, Congo began to apply increasing pressure on the Ghana back four.

Klitsho smashed a rising shot from the left hand side of the box over the bar.

With time winding down, Mohamed Yahaya wasted a straightforward chance to seal the win for his side. Ghana put together some lightning quick transitional play, and Yahaya was worked in on goal, but the player was unable to beat Congo keeper Robert Kidiaba, who made a good save.
