Carvajal out for Spain

Madrid - Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal will miss out on his first competitive international for Spain as they open their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign against Macedonia on Monday due to a hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old left La Roja's camp in Valencia on Monday morning and is also now a serious doubt for Real's Madrid derby against La Liga champions Atletico on Saturday.

"Dani Carvajal left the Spanish national team's training camp due to an injury in his left hamstring," said a statement on the Spanish national team's website.

Carvajal had impressed on his international debut despite Spain's 1-0 defeat to France last week.

However, his place in the side is now likely to be taken by Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta with Barcelona's Jordi Alba returning at left-back.
