Four in the race for Barca presidency

Barcelona - Barcelona says its elections for its next club president will be disputed between four candidates.

The European champions have announced that outgoing president Josep Bartomeu, former president Joan Laporta, as well as Agusti Benedito and Antoni Freixa are the official candidates for the July 18 vote.

The four candidates surpassed the minimum limit of signatures of support from club members needed to run.

Bartomeu, who had to resign last month as stipulated by club bylaws, presented 8,554 valid signatures.

Laporta presented the second most with 4,272. Benedito had 3,367, while Freixa had 3,068.
