First Spanish loss for Moyes

Cape Town - Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has suffered his first loss in charge of Spanish club Real Sociedad, going down 4-0 against Villareal.

The Scot had enjoyed an unbeaten start to life in La Liga, earning five points from his first three games. But his visit to the Mediterranean coastal town ended in a heavy defeat to The Yellow Submarine, leaving his Sociedad team in 14th place.

Goals from Soriano, Cheryshev, and a Moi Gomez double gave Villareal their seventh win of the season, and Villareal’s seventh defeat.

"We have to compete better."Football411 quotes Moyes as saying, after admitting that his side underperformed. "We are disappointed with how we played when we had the ball."

The next task for Moyes is the Basque derby against 9th-placed Athletic Bilbao, meaning he will have to put the heavy defeat behind him. Moyes has experience of local Derbies from his time at Everton, and will hope that his experience against Liverpool will help him against his new rivals.
