Cape Town - Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff has warned his former side that signing Luis Suarez was a big mistake and that his impending arrival could be detrimental to their hopes of claiming the title.
Cruyff believes the team to now have too much of an individualistic forward line that will compromise Barcelona's "globally applauded style of play".
Purelyfootball.com website reports him as saying, "I can’t see how Barca intend to continue playing the same way, with a keen focus on team play, if Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez are in the side".
"The three of them are too individual".
Cruyff is a firm believer in 'total football' with the emphasis on teamwork and equal effort from all players, as oppose to individual brilliance. The departure of Xavi and Carles Puyol, and the addition of Suarez suggests perhaps a shift away from the 'tiki-taka' style of play associated with La Liga sides.
