Cape Town - Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has a €1 billion release clause in his current contract, according to his agent Jorge Mendes.
The reigning World Footballer of the Year has recently been linked with a return to Manchester United, having often expressed his strong affections for the Red Devils, where he played for six years between 2003 and 2009.
However, Mendes has since revealed the phenomenal amount of money it would cost to pry the Portuguese international away from the Santiago Bernabeu, ultimately ending any speculation of an immediate departure.
Speaking to Spanish daily sports newspaper AS, Mendes said: "I no longer get calls from anyone asking about Cristiano. It's not worth them calling to ask for it.
"The price is that stated in his release clause - €1 billion."
When asked about Ronaldo's connection to the Manchester giants, Mendes said: "United are in his heart and he is very respectful of people who show him affection but he is in Madrid to the end."
