Bayern fear over Martinez injury

Munich - Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez was undergoing medical examinations Thursday amid fears that he has suffered a severe knee injury which would sideline him for months.

The Spaniard Martinez limped off 31 minutes into the German super cup game the previous day at Borussia Dortmund and later said on Facebook he was "99 per cent" sure that he has ruptured the cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Coach Pep Guardiola also expressed fear that "he'll be out for a long time" after Munich lost the game 2-0.

Martinez will be out for at least six months if his fears are confirmed.
