Agent fumes at Balotelli critics

Cape Town - Mario Balotelli's agent feels he made a mistake by bringing the Italy international back to the Serie A, where he joined AC Milan.

The 23-year-old got his break at Inter Milan, but left the San Siro outfit for Premier League giants Manchester City and spent three years with the English big-spenders.

However, he surprisingly joined the Rossoneri - who are Inter's arch-rivals - in January 2013 and his representative believes this might not have been the best move.

"Winning the 2006 World Cup disguised the real problems in Italian football," Mino Raiola told Rai Sport. "And today they are doing the same thing with Balotelli.

"You talk about him and therefore hide the real problems. It irritated me to see all the blame (of being eliminated from the World Cup) dumped on to a 23-year-old.

"It annoyed me and I don't think this would've happened anywhere else in the world. I made a mistake in bringing Mario back to Italy."

Balotelli had a below par outing in Italy's decisive match against Uruguay at the World Cup, where he was shown a yellow card and was substituted at half-time. Italy lost the match 1-0, ending their campaign in the group stages.
