Gazprom to buy into AC Milan

Milan - AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi is reportedly considering selling 25 to 30 percent of his club to Gazprom, Russia's largest gas producer.

The Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Tuesday that the deal would be worth between $185-$220 million.

Berlusconi, the Italian premier, and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin are friends and have frequently visited one another at their respective residences.

In their latest meeting a month ago, the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen business ties in the energy sector. Among other subjects, the leaders discussed increased cooperation between Gazprom and Italy's Eni.

A Milan spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
