FIFA hit back at UK lawmakers
Zurich - FIFA has told British lawmakers to get their facts straight before criticising football's world governing body.
FIFA's top administrator Jerome Valcke writes to lawmaker John Whittingdale that politicians "should act and speak on facts," rather than "unsubstantiated headlines."
Whittingdale chairs a parliamentary committee which reported last month that it was "appalled by the allegations of corruption" involving senior FIFA officials.
Valcke's letter, dated July 20, hits back at Whittingdale for not updating the report when a whistleblower withdrew bribery allegations leveled at Qatar's 2022 World Cup bid.
Valcke says Whittingdale and British "so-called investigative journalists" neglected the whistleblower's U-turn.
