19 million watched Griezmann down Germany

Paris - Over 19 million viewers in France tuned in to watch Antoine Griezmann and the rest of the French team down Germany in Thursday's Euro 2016 semi-final.

The last four clash was screened on TF1 with 19.2 million (68.8 percent share of the audience) following the game from Marseille's Stade Velodrome, according to figures released by Mediametrie on Friday.

France's 2-0 defeat of the world champions attracted the eighth highest French television audience since 1989.

Almost 30 million were watching in Germany for an 80 percent share of the audience, the fourth highest viewing figure for a football match behind Germany's 2014 World Cup final victory watched by over 34 million people.

France now face Portugal, who saw off Wales in the other semi-final, at the Stade de France in Sunday's championship final.
