Xhaka coy over Arsenal transfer rumours

Cape Town - Borussia Monchengladbach skipper Granit Xhaka has refused to confirm or deny reports suggesting that transfer talks are under way between his club and Arsenal.

The 23-year-old midfielder is widely regarded as one of Europe's brightest prospects and was recently tipped to make the move to the English Premier League in the off-season.

And the rumours mill has gone into overdrive over the past week after Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl revealed the club were considering an offer for the Switzerland international.

However, Eberl refused to name the club that was looking to sign the midfielder.

In an interview with SRF, Xhaka said: "Whether there are talks or not, the clubs Gladbach and Arsenal know that, but as of now I am still a Gladbach player.

"It might change in the next weeks or it might not change."

However, Xhaka did reveal that his future would be decided in the coming weeks, ahead of the Eurpean Championships in France.

He added: "There will definitely be a decision before the European Championship."
