Cape Town - PSV Eindhoven defender Jetro Willems has laughed off rumors linking him to Liverpool after his Snapchat picture did the rounds on social media.

The Netherlands international left-back edited his face on his close friend Georginio Wijnaldum's body in the image of him signing his contract at Anfield, which sparked widespread reports that he may be on his way to the English Premier League.

With Brad Smith's move to Bournemouth confirmed, it leaves Jurgen Klopp with only Alberto Moreno in Willems' natural position, but after speaking to the Eindhoven Dagblad, the reports have been dismissed.

"It was a joke. Let's not take everything too seriously in life," he said after PSV's friendly with FC Eindhoven.

But when asked whether he'd been contacted or if he would be open to a move to the Reds, the 22-year-old replied cheekily by saying; "You never know."

Willems made his international debut for the Oranje at Euro 2012 as an 18-year-old, becoming the youngest player to feature in the European championship at the time.
