Wijnaldum, Gomez back in training for Liverpool

Cape Town - Liverpool have received a shot in the arm with Georginio Wijnaldum's return to training ahead of Saturday's West Brom clash.

The 25-year-old missed out on Monday's goalless draw with Manchester United due to an injury he picked up while on international duty.

However, on Wednesday the Dutch midfielder was seen training at Melwood, and looks set to feature for the Reds at the weekend.

Manager Jurgen Klopp was also delighted with the return of long-term absentee Joe Gomez, who took part in light training after a year on the sidelines with an ACL and Achilles injury.

"With a big applause, he (Gomez) came back," Klopp told ESPN.

"It was really nice to have the boy back in training. It is only parts of training. He needs time, he has to do a lot until he's match fit, but it's really good to have him back.

"Actually, it is the first time I've had him. He got his injury in the international break when I came here last year. Now it is his first time on the pitch with the team. It was really a very nice moment."
