Wenger proud of Arsenal attitude

Cape Town - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed his side's "performance and attitude" after coming from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against arch-rivals Tottenham on Saturday.

The Gunners had taken the lead at White Hart Lane through Aaron Ramsey's first-half flick, but soon found themselves with their backs against the wall after Francis Coquelin received his marching orders for a second bookable offence shortly after the break.

Spurs quickly took advantage of the numbers as Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane both scored within two minutes of each other, although Alexis Sanchez popped up with an equaliser late on to rescue Arsenal a vital point.

Speaking after the game, Wenger told his club's official website: "We showed good attitude and character and I'm happy and proud of our performance and attitude.

"We refused to lose the game. We have as well big regrets because I could not see how 11 against 11 could have dropped points today.

"We made a mistake at 1-0 when it was 11 against 11 but even though we had a shock loss and it went to 2-1, we refused to lose the game. We always looked dangerous going forward."
