London - Sunderland manager David Moyes believes midfielder Duncan Watmore has shown the ability to become an important player for the club.
Watmore produced a much-improved performance against Bournemouth at the weekend as he helped the Black Cats clinch their first Premier League win of the season.
The 22-year-old's impact did not go unnoticed by Moyes who saw great promise in his display and is eager to see Watmore improve further.
"He’s got something," said Moyes, according to The Shields Gazette. "He needs to learn when to slow down and when to speed up a bit more.
"Technically, hopefully his development will improve. I thought Duncan, at times, was really positive against Bournemouth."
He added: "He was disappointed in the first half that he did not take on people more often. In one attack, he got to the by-line and put in a great cross."
Sunderland are languishing at the foot of the English Premiership table having recorded just five points from a possible 33 with Moyes coming under increasing pressure from the Black Cats fans.
