WATCH: Rooney slaps WWE wrestler

Cape Town - Manchester United striker and captain Wayne Rooney has slapped WWE wrestler Wade Barrett during a match.

Rooney was part of the WWE Raw crowd in Manchester as thousands gathered to cheer on their favourite wrestlers.

The former Everton forward was called out by Barrett before his match.

However, while the match was in progress, Barrett confronted Rooney and the two exchanged words before Barrett poked his finger in Rooney's chest.

The United captain took offence and a slap to the face floored the wrestler.

Rooney was accompanied by his two sons, former Red Devils midfielder Darren Fletcher and long United servant Ryan Giggs.
