WATCH: Mourinho wanted a different outcome

Manchester - Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday was not the result his team wanted but they will accept the point and move on.

After Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan spurned good chances to give the home side the lead, James Milner put the visitors ahead in the 27th minute from the penalty spot after Pogba handled in the box.

It looked to be a frustrating game for the Red Devils until Zlatan Ibrahimovic equalised for the hosts with six minutes remaining after exerting pressure on the Liverpool goal.

The point leaves United rooted in sixth place on the Premier League table, 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Mourinho told MUTV after the game: "The result is not the result we wanted, it's not the result we fought for, but it is a result we have to accept.

"We were the team with the chances in the first half but they were the team who scored with the penalty, then in the second half we dominated them and had more chances, but they defended well and tried to smell the possibility of a counter-attack."
