Cape Town - Manchester
United left-back Luke Shaw is a major doubt for this weekend's Premier
League clash with Leicester City after suffering a minor groin tear
during last week's defeat to Watford.
Shaw was the target of criticism for the 3-1 loss at Vicarage Road by manager Jose Mourinho, with the United boss suggesting the 21-year-old was out of position for the Hornets' second goal.
"Our left-back is 25 metres away instead of five. But give him 25 metres and you have to press. But no, we wait. It is a tactical but also mental attitude," Mourinho said after the match.
However, Shaw was sent for an MRI scan after the defeat and a minor groin tear was revealed, which suggests his performance on Sunday might have been hindered by an injury.
Mourinho has already confirmed that Shaw will play no part in the Red Devils' EFL Cup third-round clash against Northampton Town on Wednesday evening.
