Schlupp a welcome addition, says Palace 'keeper

Cape Town - Ghana international Jeffrey Schlupp has been a welcome addition to the Crystal Palace defence, says goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

The 24-year-old won the Premier League title with Leicester City last season, but joined the Eagles in search of more playing time, and has picked up the slack with Patrick van Aanholt out injured.

"We were unlucky with Patrick, it was a nasty injury at West Brom but Jeffrey has come in and he's done really well and didn't even look like he hadn't played many games," Hennessey said, via London News Online.

"We're not making as many mistakes as we were and we're creating a lot more. The back four have been fantastic, they've been so solid and good as a unit. He's really happy with himself."

While Schlupp spent last season successfully chasing the league title, this campaign he is more focused on avoiding relegation, with Palace 16th in the standings and just four points above the drop zone ahead of Saturday's trip across London to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
