Romeu: Pointing fingers won't help Saints

Cape Town - Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu believes it's important for the Saints to stick together and avoid turning on each other as they work through a difficult period.

Mauricio Pellegrino's charges have not won a Premier League game in their last eight fixtures, following the goalless draw with Manchester United on Saturday. The Saints' last victory in the top flight was in November when they thrashed Everton 4-1.

Romeu has urged his teammates to pull together and work hard to help the club get out of their current slump. They have dropped from 10th to 15th in the Premier League standings.

"When you are in this situation it is not good to point at something," Romeu told Sky Sports.

"You need to look at the overall feeling and be honest. We all need to look at ourselves and see what we are not doing right and correct those things.

"I wouldn't say it is one specific thing - either physically, tactically or technically. It is just a matter of getting all those things together and pushing the team in the same direction."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
