Rodgers backs Liverpool to beat United to top four spot

Cape Town - Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers expects Liverpool to pip Manchester United to a spot in the top four.

The former Liverpool boss has just led the Bhoys to a Scottish league title, and gave his verdict on the competition south of Hadrian's Wall.

"With the games Liverpool have left, they would expect themselves to qualify," he told talkSPORT

"They haven't got European football, so they're just preparing for that one game a week," said Rodgers.

"Manchester United have got a couple of games in hand.

"But towards they're end of the season that can be told ugh and they've got other games [the Europa League semi-final with Celta Vigo] and maybe they'll see other priorities," he added.

"Liverpool have points in the bag, they've won more games and if they win their next four games or so, hopefully that'll be enough for them."

Meanwhile Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said in a post-match interview after beating Watford 1-0 that the race for a top four spot isn't over after his side retained control of their top-four destiny.
