Cape Town - Manchester United are reportedly involved in a bidding tug-of-war for Germany striker Mario Gomez.
Reports in the English media claim that the Red Devils are battling it out with Wolfsburg to secure the signature of the 30-year-old.
Gomez, who is nearing the end of his season-long loan spell with Besiktas from Fiorentina, has netted 23 goals in all competitions for the Turkish Super LIg club.
However, United also face competition from Kara Kartallar, with a spokesman from the Istanbul outfit, Metin Albayrak, revealing that discussions are planned with the Germany international before he links up with the world champions for Euro 2016.
"We are going to hold talks with Mario before Euro 2016 and he will be a Besiktas player before the tournament," Albayrak said.
