Rashford backs Morata bid from United

Cape Town - Manchester United starlet Marcus Rashford has come out in strong support of the club's reported interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

The Spain international, fresh off an impressive season for the recently crowned European champions which saw him net 15 goals and provide five assists goals in a 43 appearances, has long been linked with a move from the Spanish capital.

Despite his obvious quality, the 25-year old has found himself in the starting XI for a surprisingly small number of matches since the Primera Division champions activated the buyback clause which saw him return to Madrid from Juventus at the start of the 2016/17 season.

Rumours of a move to Manchester United surfaced recently, with Jose Mourinho looking to add some experience and established quality to a young front line which will in all likelihood be missing Zlatan Ibrahimovic next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, young Red Devil Rashford heaped praise on the Spain international and made it very clear that the club would benefit from a player of his caliber.

"At a big club you are going to attract big players and that's what we want," Rashford said.

"Anyone who can come in and help the club win trophies, which is the ultimate aim, they are the players we want to bring in. Good competition is important if you want to be successful," the England international added.

Rashford also went on to comment on the influence that Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney have had on his development as a striker.

"The way they think, their mentality towards the game, they are the biggest things that I can take from their game," the 19-year old said.

"I think with those type of players, whether they are here for the next five years or however long they are here for, you never stop learning from them."
