Cape Town - It appears increasingly likely that Steven Pienaar will land himself a deal with Sunderland in the Premier League.
The former Everton star has been training with the Black Cats under David Moyes - a manager who he enjoyed a good working relationship with during their time together with the Toffees.
The 34-year-old playmaker has recently been working on his fitness at the club, and is expected to be further assessed on Monday by Moyes and his staff.
The Wearsiders have just returned from a pre-season friendly with Borussia Dortmund, although 'Schillo' was not involved.
However, recent comments by Moyes seem to indicate good news for the former Bafana Bafana international in terms of landing a contract.
Speaking to the club's official website about signing Senegal defender Papy Djilobodji, the Scot said he was hoping to bring in plenty more new faces in the near future.
"It's hopefully the first of several (new signings). There is no doubt that the squad is short and we must add to it but in Papy we have added another central defender," he said.
"It's a jigsaw and you can only put the bits in you get at the time, but I'm pleased that I've got the first bit in and I'm looking forward to concluding some more deals quickly."
Djilobodji was signed from Chelsea for £8 million on a four-year deal last week.
