Perotti: Alisson is a big loss

Cape Town - Roma winger Diego Perotti has admitted that Alisson Becker, who has just signed for Liverpool, is a big loss for i Giallorossi.

Alisson has joined Liverpool for a reported 75 million Euros, making him the world's most expensive goalkeeper.

The Brazilian impressed in goal for Roma during his two-year spell at the club, helping them to last season's Champions League semi-finals, where they lost to Liverpool.

"He was a really important goalkeeper for us and his saves rescued a lot of points and games last season, but that is football," Perotti told Sky Sports News in Italy.

"Admittedly, Alisson is a big loss for us, because he's a great guy, was a strong part of the locker room dynamic and we're sorry to see him go, but life is like that."

Apart from Alisson, Roma have already lost Radja Nainggolan to Inter Milan in this transfer window. Last year, they sold Mohamed Salah to Liverpool. According to Perotti, the club has proved that it can move forward despite big-name exits.

"It happened with Salah and Nainggolan, Roma continued and will carry on, so we must do just as well as last season," he said.

"I will say that a club never acts to damage itself, as every move is made to improve the team overall. We'll see how it goes at the end of the season."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
