Ospina not leaving Arsenal

Cape Town - Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the Premier League giants amid speculation that he is set to join Turkish club Besiktas.

Ospina rarely featured for the Gunners last season as he only played in 12 matches in all competitions.

Nonetheless, the Columbia international doesn’t want to leave the Emirates Stadium even though he is likely to play second fiddle to Petr Cech once again in the upcoming season.

"I have a contract with Arsenal, I'm happy with the team," Ospina told the Evening Standard. "We are fighting for the top of the league. Now we have two weeks until we start the season. These friendlies serve us very well."

Despite Ospina confirming his desire to stay with Arsenal, Besiktas president Fikret Orman has admitted that his side will do everything in their power to convince the 27-year-old to join the club.

"Arsenal want a lot for him so we may have to look for alternatives," he said. "I do want Ospina and we are going to get a foreign 'keeper."
