Cape Town - Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill believes Paddy McNair is being played out of position at Manchester United.
The 20-year old plays in defence for the Red Devils under manager Louis van Gaal but O'Neill started him alongside Oliver Norwood and Southampton midfielder Steven Davis in their 1-1 draw with Wales on Friday evening and believes he has a great future ahead of him as they prepare for Euro 2016.
"I think that's his best position [in midfield], where we played him," he said after the game.
"I was really pleased with him. He was a physical presence but he showed his quality on the ball.
"He just needs to get used to playing at this level. I enjoyed him in there in that midfield with Davis and Norwood."
Since making his first-team debut under van Gaal the Northern Ireland international has made 27 first-team appearances for United.
