Cape Town - Leicester
City manager Claudio Ranieri has made it clear that there is “no
chance” goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel will join Liverpool in the January
transfer window.
Schmeichel recently returned to the Leicester squad after recovering from a fractured hand he sustained during their Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen in mid-November.
It is understood that the Reds are interested in Schmeichel due to the numerous errors regular goalkeepers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have been making as of late.
But, Ranieri has insisted that the 30-year-old is staying put.
"Kasper has a signature on a contract," Ranieri said. "We won't sell Kasper under any circumstances.
"We don't need money. No chance. Liverpool can win the title without Kasper."
The reigning Premier League champions are currently in dire straits as they sit in 16th place on the standings and are just three points above the relegation zone.
Ranieri's men next face a struggling West Ham United side at the King Power Stadium in a New Years Eve fixture looking to move clear of the relegation zone.
Kick off is at 17:00.
