Moyes: No guarantees for Hernandez

Cape Town - New West Ham United boss has described Javier Hernandez as a "brilliant finisher", but insists there will be no preferential treatment for the striker.

Moyes is reunited with 'Chicharito', the pair having worked together at Manchester United during the 2013/14 season, which didn't go too well for either of them.

The Mexico international started just five Premier League games for United under the Scot, who admits he had plenty of attacking options to choose from at the time.

Hernandez's goalscoring exploits for Bayer Leverkusen earned him an off-season move to the London Stadium, but despite being the Hammers' top scorer this term with four goals, he will not be guaranteed a start in Moyes' first team.

"He won't be getting any special treatment," the 54-year-old said. "If he is scoring goals and working hard, he will be in. It will be the same for the rest of the team.

"He's a top goalscorer, a brilliant finisher. It was difficult for him at [Manchester] United because I had Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Shinji Kagawa, so there was lots of competition.

"It was also the same for him when he was playing for Sir Alex Ferguson. But I'm looking forward to him coming back from the international break."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
