Man United closing in on Bailly - reports

Cape Town - Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Villarreal over the transfer of Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly.

The 2015-16 campaign has been a breakthrough season for the 22-year-old as he has gone from a fringe player to a first-team player, making 35 appearances in all competitions.

Several of Europe's big clubs have shown an interest in him, but it seems he is set to ply his trade in the English Premier League next season as Manchester United have reached an agreement with his Spanish club.

AS newspaper and radio station Cadena SER claim "the clubs have reached an agreement in principle on a deal worth up to €40 million (£31.3m)", but the Red Devils still need to agree personal terms with the player.

Bailly, who has 15 caps with the Ivory Coast, came through the ranks at Espanyol and he joined fellow La Liga outfit Villarreal in a deal worth €5.5m.
