Cape Town - Georginio Wijnaldum is unlikely to feature for Liverpool in their Premier League clash this weekend after picking up an ankle injury.
The Dutch midfielder was injured during the Reds' 3-0 defeat of Maribor in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
And Wijnaldum will now undergo a scan to determine the seriousness of the injury that saw him replaced after just 17 minutes at Anfield - for Jordan Henderson.
Mohamed Salah, Emre Can and Daniel Sturridge had scored the goals to hand Liverpool a comfortable win.
After the game Reds boss Jurgen Klopp explained that Wijnaldum will be assessed ahead of the West Ham game on Saturday.
He said: "Nobody spoke to me so far (about it). At half-time I asked immediately and the ankle was already swollen. It’s probably not a good sign.
"We saw a kick in the game and didn’t think it was too serious. Then it was swollen. We’re not sure if he twisted it or not. For sure, we have to make a scan."
Wijnaldum has played 15 times for Liverpool in all competitions this season, scoring once.
