Leicester's King signs new contract

London - Welsh international midfielder Andy King signed a new four year contract with the only club he has played for Premier League champions Leicester City on Friday.

The 27-year-old - who is the only player in the Premier League era to have won the league titles in the top three tiers - joins England striker Jamie Vardy in committing to the Foxes since their stunning title win.

"Leicester City are delighted to announce that midfielder Andy King has committed his long-term future to the football club by signing a new contract until 2020," said the club on their website.

King, who made his professional debut for Leicester in 2007 and has scored 59 times in 331 appearances, played 29 times for the champions last term in all competitions, and went on to play for Wales as they reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals.

King's signature will please Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri who has worked hard to keep his squad together.

However, he has lost French midfield enforcer N'Golo Kante to Chelsea and is working hard to convince Professional Footballers Association player of the year Algerian Riyad Mahrez to stay.

However, veteran Swiss international midfielder Gokhan Inler and Belgian defender Ritchie de Laet have been told they can find other clubs provided the buyers come up with the right valuation having not been included in the squad for their pre-season trip to the United States.
