Cape Town - Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela has made it clear that he wants to be the next player to sign a new contract at the club.
The 24-year-old Argentine international joined Spurs from Roma in 2013, putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.
However, after seeing Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, and Kyle Walker given new deals recently, Lamela is eager to sign a new contract in the near future.
"I would like to (sign a new deal) because I am very happy here," he told the Evening Standard. "I feel part of this team which is improving. I have a group of excellent team-mates and I feel very good around them.
"It would make me happy to play for more years in this shirt. Will I be the next to sign? Let's hope so. At the moment I am thinking only of playing and about Saturday's game against Leicester."
Alongside Moussa Sissoko, Lamela is Tottenham's most expensive transfer, costing the club £30 million.
