Cape Town - Former Tottenham Hotspur skipper Ledley King believes the club have proven they are Premier League title contenders this season.
The north London outfit are the only unbeaten side in the top flight this campaign and trail leaders Manchester City by only a single point.
Spurs were in the running to beat Leicester City to the league title last term, but stumbled at the final hurdle, collecting only two points from their last four games.
Ahead of their clash with the defending champions this weekend, King has insisted that Spurs are a side to watch.
"Everyone wanted to see how Spurs would bounce back after the end of last season, and I think they've shown they are a team that have to be taken seriously as title contenders" he told Reuters.
"I've been very impressed with them so far this season. Even when the team haven't played to their best, they've still managed to find a way to get a result.
"That's what you need to do if you want to be a team that tries to win the league."
