Janssen slams AZ for rejecting Spurs bids

Cape Town - AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen says the club's decision to reject offers from Tottenham has disappointed him.

Janssen enjoyed an incredible debut season in the Eredivisie - his 27 goals for AZ saw him win the top scorer award in the league and become a senior Netherlands international.

His performances have subsequently attracted interest of a host of European teams but Spurs have acted quickest, lodging three separate bids for the 22-year-old.

The most recent offer of €17m has been turned down by the Cheeseheads as they hold out for a potential bidding war.

"AZ have a much higher amount in mind. They even refuse to mention the price for which I could be sold. I find that frustrating because it comes down to me," Janssen told De Telegraaf.

"I've asked [AZ technical director] Max Huiberts many times why he did not mention the required transfer fee, but he did not know himself. He only said that I'm more valuable than the money offered so far."

According to the Dutch publication, AZ value the Dutchman at €20m, but Janssen is concerned that the price tag will scare off the north London outfit.

"I trust AZ will talk to Spurs. If AZ do not, despite the offered amount, and Spurs drop out, then that is a blow to me," he continued.

"I'm not one to create war quickly, but how I react, I do not know. I assume that AZ realises that a transfer for everyone is the best. AZ are blocking my dream transfer and that makes me incredibly disappointed."
