Cape Town - Vincent Janssen has expressed his delight at signing for Tottenham Hotspur, but warned fans that adapting to the Premier League might take him some time.
Last season's third-placed Premier League team has added another striker to their roster to support Harry Kane in what will be a busy season for them.
Janssen, the Eredivisie's top scorer last season with 27 goals in 34 matches, was unveiled to the media on Tuesday after a protracted transfer negotiation process.
Despite his remarkable performance in 2015/16, the 22-year old, who cost Spurs a reported €22m, has managed the expectations of the club faithful.
"Of course I want to play football. But I will need time to adapt," he told De Telegraaf.
"Yet I know there will be plenty of minutes. With the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup i will play many games with Spurs. And I’m going to enjoy all the playing time I get."
Why did he choose Tottenham?
"After the tour of the training ground and the stadium, I knew for sure: what a fantastic club," the young hitman continued. "And the conversation with the coach (Mauricio Pochettino) was perfect as there was an immediate click.
"He clearly knew my game and how he sees my future."
