Cape Town - Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink was disappointed his side failed to take their many chances in a 3-2 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Nemanja Matic gave the Blues a 2-1 lead in first-half stoppage time after Wahbi Khazri had only moments before cancelled out Diego Costa's 15th-minute opener.
But the embattled Black Cats hit back in the second half as quick-fire goals from Fabio Borini (67') and Jermain Defoe (70') secured the comeback win to lift Sam Allardyce's men out of the relegation zone, a point clear of 18th-placed Newcastle.
Hiddink felt his team should have put the game to bed when they had the chance, having allowed the Wearsiders to breathe new life into their fight for survival and inflicting only a third league defeat of the Dutchman's reign.
"We didn't kill them off and that's the only thing I can criticise," he said after the match. "I'm disappointed of course with the result. We like to win every game which is not always possible.
"We should have scored more in the first half an hour and made it two or three nil. We were playing very well but not materialising our chances and so we invited them in to the game which they did by making it 1-1.
"The team reacted at that point very well to make it 2-1 right on half-time. We then had two or three open chances in the second half to make it 3-1. We didn't do that and that let them in to the game.
"We invited them to get new energy. They were energetic and very well supported by their crowd to get the win which is huge for them."
