Hazard will be Chelsea's best ever, says Cole

London - Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has all the attributes to go down as the club's greatest ever player, according to former Blues winger Joe Cole.

Hazard has been one of Chelsea's star players ever since moving to the London club from Lille in 2012 and have won several accolades in that time.

The Belgian has twice been named the club's player of the year, as well as the PFA Young Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season.

Hazard, though, had a torrid time last season scoring only six goals in all competitions, as Chelsea slumped to a disappointing 10th place in the Premier League.

He has been back to his best so far this round around, however, and Cole, who played alongside Hazard at Lille, is confident the 26-year-old will go down in history as Chelsea's most iconic player.

"I think he'll go down as Chelsea's greatest player," Cole told CFC Fan TV.

"He's certainly the most talented all-round footballer I've played with and he's already a hero with the fans. I hope he stays there for the rest of his career.

"My first game in France with Lille, [then-coach] Rudi Garcia was saying to me, 'we've got this good kid, Eden Hazard'.

"He said 'I want you to play with him'. And then he scored two of the best goals you'll see within 20 minutes and I thought, 'I don't know if I'm good enough to play with him'.

"He's just a nice kid, he's got a good way about him, he loves training, he loves football and everyone in that dressing room in France loved him."

Chelsea are eight points ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League standings, with Tottenham one point behind and Liverpool another point adrift in fourth.

The Blues next welcome Brentford to Stamford Bridge in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday before traveling to Anfield to face Liverpool.

Kick off is at 17:00.
