Gotze parts ways with agent

Cape Town - The transfer speculation surrounding Bayern midfielder Mario Gotze has intensified after it was revealed he has split from representative agency SportsTotal.

After a difficult season in which Gotze was hampered by injuries and struggled to get game time even when he was fit, rumours about his imminent departure from the Bavarians have been rife.

The 23-year-old has a contract at the Allianz Arena until 2017 and sought to end speculation about his future by stating his intention to return to Bayern after Euro 2016, but speculation has not ceased and parting ways with his representatives will not help matters.

"After extensive deliberations and discussions in the past few weeks, we have together decided to terminate the cooperation," read the statement from SportsTotal. "We met for a joint discussion and have parted by mutual agreement."

Gotze added: "I thank SportsTotal for a very good cooperation, with many highlights and some great memories that have shaped my career decisively."

One of the more prominent rumours has linked the playmaker with a move to rejoin his former mentor Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, but the player's father has denied any transfer dealings between Gotze and the Premier League club.

"I don't know anything about an alleged imminent transfer to Liverpool. Mario is my son, we talk to each other. I would know about it," he told German paper Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
