Gladbach deny Arsenal bid for Xhaka

Cape Town - Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has denied rumours that Arsenal have made an offer for their captain Granit Xhaka.

The German press are widely reporting that a deal worth £35m is close to being struck with the Gunners, but Eberl says otherwise.

"There is no official offer," he told Kicker. "But Granit Xhaka is an issue. It's clear he has generated interest at other clubs. We have to wait and see what happens."

The 23-year-old midfielder has also been linked with Manchester City and Liverpool. It remains to be seen whether or not a potential move would be complete before the start of Euro 2016, where Xhaka will represent Switzerland.
