English Premiership Team of the Week 23:

1. Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion) - Despite their goalless draw against Aston Villa, the Englishman was often tested by Villa throughout the 90-minutes.

2. Virgil Van Dijk (Southampton) - The Dutchman proved to be a rock in the Saints defence which became a real problem for Manchester United.

3. Kurt Zouma (Chelsea) - A stocky individual and put his body on the line against Arsenal. The 21-year-old has grown into that centre-back role alongside John Terry.

4. Ashley Williams (Swansea City) - Back-to-back starting berth for the Swans captain and deservedly so as the Welsh side surprised Everton at Goodison Park.

5. N’Golo Kante (Leicester City) - The central midfielder has been Claudio Ranieri's 'silent' secret. Demolishing all opponents attacking play and turning it into Leicester's favour.

6. Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur) - The former MK Dons midfielder is one confident player. His goal against Palace is no joke, nor was his one against France during the international break. In a game against West Bromich Albion Toby Alderweireld's searching ball found the Englishman and the 19-year-old made no mistake in finishing off the move.

7. Dimitri Payet (West Ham United) - Great work ethic and made Bacary Sagna work hard which is something one does not often see in football. Make the wing-backs work for that ball.

8. Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur) - Knows his role and does it perfectly for Spurs. No goals against Palace but got an assist to his name.

9. Junior Stanislas (Bournemouth) - A live wire on the right wing and created the Cherries' only goal against Sunderland.

10. Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) - Just maybe he is a striker as Jurgen Klopp describes the Brazilian.

11. Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) - It's not nostalgic, Aguero is scoring again and they are coming in hot.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
