Diouf denies exit rumours

Cape Town - Stoke City forward Mame Biram Diouf says he's keen to remain in the English Premier League with Stoke City, claiming he is happy at the Britannia.

Reports in British media suggested the former Manchester United man is wanted in Germany and China, with the January transfer window looming.

However, the Senegal international wants to remain with the Potters despite recently being moved away from his preferred position as the lone striker in Mark Hughes first XI.

Diouf was deployed in an unfamiliar right-wing-back role during their 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday but claims he is just happy to be playing football.

"It hasn't crossed my mind (to leave) because I want to fight for my place here and see what is going to happen," he told Africanfootball. "January is coming but I hope I will get more games and the manager will want to keep me.

"Like Marc Muniesa said, I want to play football and I want that to be at Stoke. I just want to play and I am happy here.

"I hope they will understand that and let me play," he added. "As a football player you just want to play. That's all I'm asking for, I want to play football and enjoy it.

"I know I can give something for the team. Hopefully that game at Watford will change a lot."

Diouf will be hoping that his performance against Watford will see him retain his place in the team when The Potters welcome Burnley to the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.
