Derby goalkeeper Grant joins Stoke on loan

Cape Town - Stoke City have confirmed the signing of veteran shot-stopper Lee Grant on a season long loan-deal from Derby County.

Potters boss Mark Hughes has strengthened his options in goalkeeping department, with Grant set to battle it out with Jack Butland, Jakob Haugaard and Daniel Bachmann for a first-team place.

"We felt it was important to make sure that we are well covered in that area," Hughes told the club's official website.

Having made his professional debut almost two decades ago with Derby, Grant boasts over 400 appearances, and Hughes believes his experience will come in handy.

"We obviously have good young 'keepers, but Lee is experienced, he is of a good age and we felt it would be sensible for us to bring him in if we possibly could," Hughes added.

"We have been able to do that, and it ensures we are covered for any eventuality now."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
