Dortmund - Borussia Monchengladbach insist hot prospect Mahmoud Dahoud is going nowhere in January, despite being strongly linked with Liverpool.
Midfielder Dahoud has been attracting interest from clubs across Europe after the 20-year-old broke into the Monchengladbach first-team last season and netted five goals in 41 appearances.
Liverpool, along with Borussia Dortmund, have both been credited with an interest in Dahoud, who is under contract until the summer of 2018.
However, Monchengladbach have publicly ruled out the prospect of Dahoud leaving the club in the January transfer window after selling star midfielder Granit Xhaka to Arsenal during the summer.
“There is a zero per cent chance that Mahmoud will leave in January,' sporting director Max Eberl told German newspaper Kicker.
“There is no offer for him on the table from any club and we have not had any offers for him in the past either.
“It is the club's desire to extend his contract. We have not opened talks yet, but that will soon happen.
“We will have to consider our options if he only has one year left on his contract next year, but that is pure speculation at this stage.”
Meanwhile Liverpool will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of the English Premiership summit when they travel to the St. Mary's stadium where they will face Southampton.
Kickoff is at 17:00.
