Crystal Palace confirm Benteke capture

Cape Town - Crystal Palace have announced the signing of Liverpool striker Christian Benteke on a four-year deal from Premier League rivals Liverpool.

The Belgium international makes the switch to the Selhurst Park after falling out of favour under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

The 25-year-old made 42 appearances in all competitions for the Merseysiders, bagging ten goals, after sealing a £32.5 million switch from Aston Villa prior to the start of the 2015/16 campaign.

Speaking to Palace's official website after signing his new contract, Benteke said: "I'm very happy to commit my future to Crystal Palace and I'm looking forward to meeting the manager, the players and the staff.

"I feel really happy that the deal has been done and now I can look forward."

Benteke becomes manager Alan Pardew's fourth acquisition of the current transfer window, following the arrivals of Andros Townsend, James Tomkins and Steve Mandanda.

The transfer fee has not been disclosed by the Eagles, but it is believed to be worth £27 up front, with £5 in performance-related add-ons and bonuses.
